What is Toastmasters?

Toastmasters is a worldwide non-profit educational organisation dedicated to improving communication and leadership skills. A typical club consists of about 20 to 30 members and holds meetings about twice a month.

Toastmasters is open to everyone over the age of 18 years. More than 3 million people have enjoyed the benefits of the training program and the supportive, friendly club environment.

Toastmasters started on October 22 1924 when Dr Ralph Smedley established the first Toastmasters club in Santa Ana, California, USA.

By applying the speaking and leadership skills developed in Toastmasters, people have become more active, positive and enthusiastic in the workplace, at home, in churches, and in community service/charity organisations.

Toastmasters members become adept at listening, impromptu speaking, conducting meetings, speaking in public, etc.
